LCC Foundation Inc. recently demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the welfare of senior citizens by actively participating in the 1st Anniversary Celebration of the Expanded Centenarians Act in Sorsogon. Joined hands with the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), LCC Foundation, Inc. honors and shows its support to the elderly residents of the province, bringing smiles and essential aid to sixty deserving individuals.
The celebration saw senior citizens aged 80, 85, 90, and 95 from various Barangays across Sorsogon Province gather to commemorate the milestone legislation. Republic Act 11982, also known as the Expanded Centenarians Act, was enacted to provide recognition and tangible support to Filipino citizens as they reach significant age milestones. This act extends the traditional centenarian benefit by also granting cash gifts to octogenarians (80-89 years old) and nonagenarians (90-99 years old).
In a heartwarming gesture, LCC Foundation Inc. distributed grocery packs to the sixty senior citizens present. These packs contained essential food items and household supplies, providing immediate relief and demonstrating the foundation’s care for the well-being of the elderly in the community. This initiative complemented the national simultaneous payout led by the NCSC, where eligible octogenarians and nonagenarians received their mandated cash gifts.
The Expanded Centenarians Act underscores the nation’s recognition of the valuable contributions and life experiences of its senior citizens. By providing financial assistance, the government aims to improve their quality of life and ensure they feel valued and respected within society.
Since its inception, LCC Foundation Inc. has been collaborating with local and national government agencies, as well as private organizations, to provide initiatives that promote the welfare of our senior citizens and foster a community that values and supports our elderly. Through shared efforts we are able to provide immediate assistance but also contribute to creating a more inclusive and caring environment for the elderly in Sorsogon and beyond.
