As part of our steadfast commitment to promote the agricultural industry, LCC supports the Cagsawa Festival Agri-Trade Fair, spearheaded by KADIWA and the Local Government Unit of Daraga. The event provided a platform for local farmers as well as Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to increase their market reach and encourage consumers to buy locally-sourced produce.
LCC recognizes that the Philippine agriculture sector has always been a vital component of the countryโs economy, fueled by key crops such as rice, coconut and other fruits and vegetables. Aside from providing agricultural products, it also provides substantial employment opportunities particularly, for citizens from rural areas. Being one of the main contributors of the countryโs economic Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the Philippine agriculture sectorโs performance directly affects the food security, employment rates, and overall economic stability. However, fluctuating market prices and its vulnerability to extreme climate changes heavily affects the agricultural landscape and its production.ย
With the initiative of KADIWA, alongside the Local Government Units of Daraga and the support of LCC, an Agri-Trade Fair was organized for the Cagsawa Festival which highlights the fresh and affordable produce from local farmers. Local farmers and MSMEs from all over Daraga and Albay showcased various agricultural products such as rice, pumpkins, organic crackers, fruit bearing plants and many more.To boost customer engagement and opportunities to these local farmers, the said event commenced for 7 days, from February 1, 2025 to February 7, 2025.ย
Understanding the importance of agriculture has been a central component of LCCโs initiatives. LCC commits on ensuring food security and inclusivity of local produce. Specifically, LCC Supermarket’s Farm-to-Market Program exemplifies this commitment by bringing fresh, locally-sourced products directly to consumers through collaborations with local farmers. Creating new market opportunities for local farmers translates to a stronger local economy, greater adoption of sustainable agriculture, and strengthens community connection.
